MEGAN MASSA
Megan is a birder, artist, and scientist who enjoys studying the natural world. She uses a variety of traditional and digital media to explore her primary muse, birds, as well as pet portraiture.
Megan's fascination with birds began with the Bird of the Week illustration series, a project she developed for the Bird Club of William & Mary as a way to learn the identification and natural history of local species. Much of her work focuses on depicting everyday birds in a compelling light, drawing inspiration from her experiences not only as a birder but as an avian technician and researcher. Megan holds an M.S. in Ecology and Conservation Biology from Frostburg State University/UMCES Appalachian Laboratory, where she studied grassland bird populations in national battlefield parks. In 2019, she was honored as the American Birding Association's Bird of the Year Artist. Clients include New Jersey Audubon, Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory, the American Birding Association, and the Center for Conservation Biology. Contact: [email protected] |
